Guidelines for Contributors
Arkansas Review: A Journal of Delta Studies focuses on the seven-state Mississippi River Delta. Interdisciplinary in scope, we welcome original contributions from all the humanities and social sciences, including anthropology, art history, folklore studies, history, literature, musicology, political science, and sociology. Articles should be aimed at a general academic audience and follow the Author-Date Citation format specified in the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition. Submit articles in hard copy to the General Editor. Materials may also be submitted via email.
Photography and other visual materials to accompany articles are encouraged. Do not submit originals until the article has been accepted. When submitted, photographs should be black and white prints no larger than 8 X 10 in either glossy or matte finish.
Arkansas Review also publishes creative material, especially fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and visual art that evoke or respond to the Delta cultural and/or natural experience. Address such materials, with accompanying SASE?s, to the General Editor or Art Editor.
Scholarly material submitted to Arkansas Review will be refereed by the relevant editor and by at least one other reviewer, a specialist in the field of the article. We attempt to evaluate submissions within four months of reception. Contributors may also want to submit proposals for special issues, ones dealing with specific seven-state Delta topics. Such proposals should be sent to the General Editor.
Contributors will receive three copies of the issue of Arkansas Review in which their work appears, along with a year?s subscription.
Address all materials and inquiries to the appropriate editor at Arkansas Review, PO Box 1890, Arkansas State University, State University, AR 72467. Phone: 870-972-3043; FAX: 870-972-3045; email: arkansasreview@astate.edu; website: http://www.clt.astate.edu/arkreview.
Please note that Arkansas Review reads year round. We do not consider scholarly material that has been simultaneously submitted to other periodicals. Creative material, however, may be simultaneously submitted.
