Sexual harassment
ASU does not tolerate sexual harassment by teachers or
students in any of its forms. In a teacher-student context, sexual
harassment is defined in the ASU Faculty Handbook as "unwelcome
sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct
of a sexual nature" when it is a "term or condition of
instruction"; "a basis for evaluation in making . . . academic
decisions affecting the individual"; and when it "has the purpose or
effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's academic or employment
performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive university
environment" (II-19).
