Participants in this summer course will experience Switzerland, Austria, The Czech Republic, Germany, France and England. It will focus on people in Europe who greatly influenced the discipline of psychology. The trip will immerse students in the historical context of psychology through a two-week visit to Europe, where psychology formally emerged. Sites to be visited include the Sigmund Freud Museum, Louvre, 'Bedlam' Hospital, Franz Kafka House, Natural History Museum and many more. Additionally, as part of the core values and strategies of ASU, the importance of the global community and globalized opportunities are key issues. This course and tour will help students gain theoretical and practical knowledge about European culture as part of the emphasis on global understanding.

This course is open to ASU undergraduate and graduate students, students from other institutions, as well as community members and alumni. All students seeking the three hours of course credit should be in good academic standing with their university. Any participants under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent.

For ASU and Non-ASU Students the estimated cost based on 10 participants is $3400 plus tuition and fees. Students are encouraged to visit with their financial aid officer to inquire about applying financial aid. ASU students may also apply for a $500 Travel Voucher through the Office of International Programs. Contact Dr. Amy R. Pearce for more information at apearce@astate.edu.
