This past year we have initiated a variety of programs that will greatly benefit our current and future students. The Psychology and Counseling faculty will be implementing four new concentrations in the B.S. in Psychology program. The concentrations are behavioral psychology, developmental psychology, neuroscience psychology and psychological technician. Dr. Amy Pierce is leading a coterie of 10 students on a European psychology tour to learn about famous past psychologist and psychological institutions. In the Health, Physical Education, Sports Science (HPESS) department, we spent $120,000 to enhance the Exercise Science Lab, which students use to conduct their practicum. This practicum prepares the students to have a successful experience during their internship the following semester. In addition, we are now offering the masters in science in sports administration online. Dr. Claudia Benavides, a faculty member in the sports management/administration program is leading a group of students on a London tour of famous sporting facilities and agencies. The Teacher Education and Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Special Education departments are working on creating professional development schools with local school districts as well as working on moving towards a one year student teaching and internship experience. The College of Education is working to create several partner institutions in Hawaii (Chaminade University), Belize (University of Belize) and Russia (Bashkir State Pedagogical University). These partnerships will allow students to conduct field, clinical and internship experiences in these locations.
